Too Obvious (Wed 25th)

The class started off with working with your partner on the ads. My group is working on the topic of US citizenship. The pro side will be enforcing the law while the con side wants to change to law into becoming US citizens.

Jimmy looked over our sketches for the ads today and he noticed that my sketches are too obvious. He pointed out that being obvious is NOT a good thing in advertising because it is not going to catch anyone's attention. I thought about it and realized he was right. That is why people just flip to the next page. And if the ads did not grab your attention, what makes it interesting to read?

Perhaps ads are like book covers. Nobody cares about the inside unless the outside grabs their attention. If you look at it this way, advertising is superficial isn't it? What do you think?
